You’ve heard the term 360° booth or seen a video on Instagram where a camera rotates around dancing people, confetti flies through the air, and everything plays out in buttery-smooth slow motion. Behind this effect is a rotating video platform: guests stand on a round podium while a motorized camera arm circles them completely, creating a cinematic slow-motion video in just a few seconds. The finished result can be downloaded instantly to a smartphone via QR code and shared directly on Instagram or TikTok. Not a photo, not a static moment, but a full-fledged video clip with music and a custom frame.

The 360° booth is no accident in trending popularity. Video content achieves up to 1200% higher share rates on platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok than static images, and that is exactly the demand for shareable, dynamic content that a 360° booth satisfies at an event. At Fotichaschte.ch, we rent out classic photo booths as well as the 360-degree video system. This guide explains how the technology works, what effects are possible, what technical requirements your venue must meet, and what to consider when comparing it with a classic photo booth.

360° Booth – simply explained

A 360° booth, also known as a 360-degree video booth or spin-cam system, is a rotating camera platform that captures dynamic videos from all perspectives at once. The principle is as simple as it is effective: guests step onto a round podium, a motorized arm with a high-resolution camera rotates around them, and records everything at a high frame rate. Just a few seconds later, the result is a finished video that is delivered instantly to a smartphone via QR code.

The 360° booth works with an innovative video system that produces both normal and slow-motion recordings. In real time, the software already adds custom elements: a wedding logo or hashtag, music, or a tailor-made frame. The result is ready in under 60 seconds, without manual editing or post-production.

Important for orientation: a 360° booth is not a classic photo booth that produces static pictures. Its unique selling point is the cinematic all-around effect, where movement, perspective, and slow motion work together to create a video clip that immediately stands out as a memory of your event.

How does a 360° Booth work? – Step by step

The process can be divided into four clearly distinct phases. Each takes only a few seconds to a maximum of one minute, making it easy to use at a wedding.

Step onto the platform and get into position

Guests step onto the round, ground-level platform alone or in groups of up to four people. Getting on is easy for all age groups. The operator stands right next to it, gives brief positioning instructions, and provides props such as signs or confetti if needed. Stepping onto the platform takes less than 15 seconds on average.

The camera arm starts rotating

A motorized arm with a high-resolution camera begins rotating around the platform, capturing guests from every angle. The actual recording lasts only a few seconds. During this time, guests can dance, pose, or throw confetti — the more natural the movements, the more effective the result. The camera records at a high frame rate of around 120 fps, which forms the basis for the slow-motion effect. Professional providers calibrate the platform’s support feet with a spirit level before the event to prevent micro-vibrations caused by the centrifugal force of the rotating arm. This step is invisible to the naked eye, but it is crucial for the image stability of the finished video.

Software enhances the video in real time

Immediately after recording, the software takes over. It automatically adds the selected template, integrates slow-motion effects, overlays, and music, without any manual editing being necessary. The flexibility lies in the software: custom video templates, captivating slow-motion effects, and dynamic transitions can be configured in advance and are automatically applied to every recording. The finished video is ready in under 60 seconds.

Share the finished video via QR code

As soon as the video has been processed, a QR code appears directly at the booth. Guests scan it with their smartphone and receive the video instantly; alternatively, the transfer can also be done by email. From there, it takes just one tap to post it to an Instagram Story, upload it to TikTok, or share it in a WhatsApp group. All videos are also collected in an online gallery, which typically remains accessible for 6 months after the event.

What effects make the videos so special?

The visual impression of a 360° booth is not so compelling by coincidence. Behind it is a combination of recording technology and software that cannot be reproduced with a normal smartphone.

Slow motion – every movement becomes eye-catching

Slow motion is the core USP of the 360° booth and the effect that amazes most guests. Hair flies through the air in slow motion, confetti floats as if frozen, fabric flows cinematically in the wind. This is made possible by a high recording rate of at least 120 fps. When these images are processed by the software in real time down to the playback standard of 30 fps, the result is an absolutely smooth four-times slow-motion effect without stuttering or motion blur. This creates the typical Hollywood look that standard cameras simply cannot reproduce, and makes every recording an eye-catcher that immediately attracts attention on social media.

Dynamic overlays and video templates

Every video leaves the booth already fully designed. Custom frames, text overlays, animated transitions, and color schemes can be configured in advance and are applied automatically to every recording. Templates range from elegant and minimalist for weddings to bold corporate branding for company events. Colors, fonts, and logos can be adjusted so that every shared video is immediately recognizable as part of a coherent visual concept.

Music, intros, and boomerang effects

Videos without music feel flat. That’s why every recording is paired with a soundtrack, either selected from a library of royalty-free music or, on request, with a custom track. A reputable provider solves this issue by using exclusively royalty-free material, reliably preventing unexpected fees and legal pitfalls. Beyond the music, additional effects are also possible: the boomerang loop plays the video forward and backward, the freeze frame stops a movement in the middle of the clip, and dynamic transitions tie recordings together into a cohesive overall impression.

Branding and personalization – customizable for every occasion

Personalization is not an optional extra with a 360° booth, but a central part of the concept. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private birthday: every recording can reflect the occasion that created it.

Weddings – names, date, and wedding theme

For weddings, the overlay can be customized with first names, the wedding date, and a personal hashtag. The design is coordinated with the color palette of the invitations and decorations, whether floral elements, gold accents, or clean white. Romantic templates with elegant typography ensure that every shared video is immediately recognizable as part of this special day. You can find out how the 360° booth can make your wedding a highlight in our guide to renting a 360° booth for weddings.

Corporate events – logo, corporate design, and campaign hashtag

At a corporate event, the 360° booth becomes a mobile brand message. The company logo appears in the overlay, company colors run through the template, and the campaign hashtag is integrated into every clip as a text overlay. Every video a guest shares on Instagram or TikTok is also organic brand communication. At an event with just 50 shared videos, this can generate up to 15,000 authentic brand impressions across relevant networks, entirely through user-generated content without a media budget. You can read everything about branding and ROI in our guide to the 360° booth for corporate events.

Private celebrations – birthdays, anniversaries, and more

The full range of personalization options is also available for private occasions. The name of the birthday person, a party theme, or a humorous phrase can be integrated as an overlay. Templates can be adapted in color and style to suit any theme, from an elegant anniversary to a exuberant summer party. Fotichaschte.ch creates custom templates for every customer.

Technical requirements – what you should know before booking

We take care of the entire setup for you. But to ensure everything runs smoothly at your event, there are a few basic things you should clarify with your venue in advance.

Space requirements and flooring

We recommend a minimum area of around 3×3 meters for smooth operation. More realistically, you should plan for about 4×4 meters once guest flow, waiting groups, and a spectator zone are taken into account. We always recommend placing it where the party is happening! The ground must be level and firm. Parquet, concrete, solid grass, and tent flooring work without issue, whereas sand or heavily sloped ground do not. Ceiling height is not a problem for the camera arm itself. However, if you also book one of our special backdrop walls, you should allow for a ceiling height of around three meters.

Power and technology

A single household power outlet is completely sufficient. A standard type J socket (230 V, 10 A) supplies up to 2300 watts, while a professional 360° booth including motor, video lights, and control unit typically requires between 300 and 600 watts during operation. A high-voltage connection or separate electrical circuit is not required. Professional video lights are brought by the team to ensure optimal lighting regardless of the venue’s lighting conditions. The recording itself does not depend on Wi-Fi; for QR code sharing, the operator uses a mobile hotspot that provides a stable network for transmission.

Indoor and outdoor – what is possible?

Both work. Indoors, there are no significant restrictions apart from space requirements and ceiling height. For outdoor events, a wind-protected area is recommended, as strong wind can affect the stability of the camera arm and impair the image. In case of rain, the booth must be placed under cover, as the technology is not weatherproof. A tent, pavilion, or covered area should be planned as a fixed fallback option.

Maximum number of people on the platform

Up to three guests can step onto the podium together. Depending on the platform diameter, some providers allow up to six people at the same time. Larger groups are divided into several rounds, which tends to increase the entertainment value rather than reduce it, because watching is just as fun as participating. The platform is, of course, equally suitable for solo or couple recordings.

360° Booth vs. photo booth – what’s the difference?

Both products belong to the world of event entertainment, but they serve different needs. The following overview shows the most important differences at a glance:

Criterion 360° Booth Photo booth
Result Slow-motion video (360°) Photo (static)
Camera Rotating arm Static (DSLR or tablet)
Instant printing No Yes
Suitable for guestbook Limited (QR code) Yes (paste in photo)
Sharing QR-Code QR-Code / print
Suitability for social media Very high (Reels, TikTok) Medium (Stories, WhatsApp)
Operation Operator on site Self-service possible
Space required Approx. 3×3 to 4×4 m From approx. 2×2.5 m
Special feature Cinematic all-around effect Props & instant printing

One operational difference that is often underestimated during planning is throughput. A photo booth manages around 45 to 60 sessions per hour under optimal conditions. Due to the nature of the system, a 360° booth reaches a maximum of 20 to 30 sessions, because stepping on, getting into position, waiting for the camera arm, and the subsequent video processing take more time per round. In return, the 360° booth has a much stronger magnet effect on nearby guests, which is why a generous waiting and spectator area should definitely be planned.

Which product is the right choice depends on the goal of the events. If you want a physical keepsake with instant printing and a classic guestbook, a Fotichaschte is the ideal option. If you prioritize social media content and cinematic video footage, the 360° booth is the better choice. Checklist – 7 points to pay attention to when renting

Before booking a 360° booth, it is worth systematically clarifying these seven points. They help avoid surprises later, whether on the invoice or on the event day.

  1. Operator included or self-service? With a 360° booth, an on-site operator is not optional, but standard. The technology requires professional supervision, and guest engagement plays a key role in the quality of the videos. Fotichaschte.ch provides an experienced on-site attendant with every booking who coordinates the entire process.
  2. What is included in the branding? Music, template design, and custom adjustments may sound standard, but they are not included in every provider’s package price. Clarify in advance whether customization is included or costs extra. At Fotichaschte.ch, custom design is a fixed part of the offer.
  3. How is it delivered and set up? Delivery, setup, and dismantling by the team is the usual process for a 360° booth. Self-delivery is unusual and not recommended. The Pixora team handles the entire process, including calibration and a test run before the event.
  4. How many videos per hour are realistic? Experience shows that around 20 to 30 finished videos are created per hour, depending on the number of guests and people’s willingness to participate. Per round, Pixora estimates about one minute for a finished video ready to be sent.
  5. How and for how long is the gallery available? All videos are stored in a password-protected online gallery, which typically remains accessible for 6 months after the event. Clarify whether downloading all videos in one bundle is possible and who receives the access code.
  6. Coordinate indoor/outdoor use in advance Sending a photo of the venue to the team before booking saves many questions on the event day. Space requirements, ceiling height, and power supply can be clarified quickly this way. For outdoor events, always discuss a wind-protected area or a specific backup plan.
  7. Plan the booking lead time Since we exclusively have only one single 360° booth in our range, the rule especially applies here: the earlier, the better. A lead time of at least two to three months is highly recommended. During wedding season from May to September, popular weekends are usually booked out much earlier. You can find tips on the ideal usage time in our article about the best time slots for photobooths.

Frequently asked questions about the 360° Booth

Is the 360° booth safe – also for children and older guests?

The platform is not completely level with the ground, but requires a small step up. However, our on-site operator is happy to assist with getting on and off, so that everyone feels safe and comfortable. The camera arm rotates at a safe height above people’s heads. Experience shows that children are among the most enthusiastic users, and thanks to the supervision, guests of all ages get the best out of the moment.

How long does an individual video take?

The recording itself lasts only a few seconds. Automatic processing and delivery happen almost in real time. Including stepping onto the platform, positioning, and effect processing, a complete round is finished in about 60 to 90 seconds, and the finished video is ready to share.

Can guests bring their own props?

Yes, and it is definitely worth it. Confetti, flower petals, and personalized signs create especially spectacular slow-motion effects. It is recommended to coordinate in advance with the team regarding which props work best. You can find even more ideas for props in our article about the best prop ideas for events.

Do you need Wi-Fi for the 360° booth?

No. Recording and video processing run entirely locally on the system. For QR code sharing, the operator uses their own mobile hotspot, which provides a stable network. Guests only need a working phone camera to scan the QR code.

What happens if it rains at an outdoor event?

The technology is not weatherproof and must remain covered at all times. For outdoor events, a tent, pavilion, or another covered area is essential planning. Discuss this with the team in advance and record the solution clearly so that there are no gaps on the event day.

How does the 360° booth differ from a video booth?

A video booth records videos from a fixed, static perspective, similar to a photo booth but in moving images. The 360° booth, on the other hand, fully circles the guests with a rotating camera arm, creating the characteristic cinematic all-around effect. This dynamic viewing angle is technically impossible to achieve with a stationary camera. We offer both product categories through Fotichaschte.ch and Pixora.
